ENCOURAGEMENT

SERMONETTE

Biographical Sketch of Elder Lynda Smiley McMillan

A native of Hinesville, Georgia, Elder Lynda Smiley McMillan is a dynamic teacher, worship leader, and conference speaker who demonstrates God’s love to others. As an Associate Minister of Union Missionary Baptist church in Wilmington, North Carolina. She is a true and dedicated follower under the leadership of Senior Pastor James H. Nixon. A minister of the Gospel, Lynda was greatly influenced by her grandparents, who adopted her and raised her to fear the Lord. Under their love and care, Lynda accepted Jesus as her Lord and personal Savior at the tender age of nine (9) and was very active in her home church. She is a high school graduate who later joined the Hinesville, GA Police Department as the first black and the first female officer. She is also a graduate of nursing school and recently retired after working thirty-five (35) years as a Licensed Practical Nurse.

Lynda accepted her call in Ministry in June 1990. Her initial sermon was preached on June 22, 1990 at Faith Temple COGIC in Wilmington, NC. During this time, there was much opposition for women in a Baptist church, but God said to Lynda “Be still and know that I am God.” The Lord revealed Matt 10:28 to Lynda and these words became her strength. She realized that she should not fear them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul, but rather to fear Him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell, this being God and not man. Lynda was licensed as a Minister in May 1997 and ordained as an Elder in November 2003.

Lynda’s commitment to helping others is evident through her lifestyle of service and Ministry of Encouragement and Inspiration. Lynda’s ministry has carried her as far as Yokota, Japan, where she preached the Gospel in December of 2003 at a women’s conference. Lynda was featured in Charisma Magazine in January 1999, which is a well known international magazine spreading the gospel around the world. God continues to open doors for there is a “Word” for the people of the True and Living God.

As a mother of four (4) adult children, Karen Allen, Tomasina Holliday (Elvin), Lyndon Allen (Rose) and Trastine Saxby (Kevin), and (9) lovely grandchildren (1) great grandson and many spiritual sons, daughters and grandchildren over the world. Lynda firmly believes with confidence in Psalms 27:1, which states: “The lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life, of whom shall I be afraid?”

Lynda’s goal is to continue in the Gospel until Jesus Christ calls her from “Labor to Reward.” Lynda is working on her first book of Encouragement and Inspiration. Lynda just released her first Gospel CD “Trust!!! In The Lord" on 04/04/09 at 4PM. I invite you to be encouraged on today.
